Cleft Lip & Palate

Cleft lip and palate are congenital gaps in the lip and/or the roof of the mouth, corrected through staged surgery to restore appearance, feeding, and speech.

What It Is

A cleft forms when facial tissues do not fully join during pregnancy. It may affect the lip only, the palate only, or both, and is generally managed in stages according to the child's age and growth.

Soft-Tissue Tumour

A soft-tissue tumour is a lump in the tissue beneath the skin — such as a lipoma or cyst — that can be removed surgically to restore form and allow further examination.

What It Is

Most soft-tissue tumours are benign, but removal is advised when they cause discomfort, grow, or require examination. The surrounding tissue is reconstructed for a neat result.

04 — CRANIOFACIAL

Torticollis

Torticollis is a tilting or turning of the head to one side caused by tightening of a neck muscle (the sternocleidomastoid), corrected in some cases through surgical release.

What It Is

Congenital torticollis often appears in infants, and many cases improve with physiotherapy. When it does not improve, or presents in an older child, surgical release of the muscle may be considered.

No. Many cases, especially in infants, improve with physiotherapy; surgery is considered when conservative therapy is unsuccessful.
